Ambassador Gilberto Vergne Saboia was reelected today, November 3, to the United Nations International Law Commission (ILC), to the 2017-2021 term.
The ILC is responsible for developing and codifying international law. Since its establishment, in 1949, Brazil has been almost continuously present in the composition of the body.
The reelection of Ambassador Gilberto Saboia took place in New York, during the 71st UN General Assembly. The candidacy received 139 votes, which reflects the recognition of the high qualifications of the Brazilian candidate and the contributions of Brazil to the international law. The Brazilian Government expresses its gratitude to the Member States of the United Nations for the support received.
