The President of the Republic, Michel Temer, will make an official visit to India on October 17, when he will hold a working meeting with Prime Minister of the Republic of India, Narendra Modi.

The two leaders will discuss themes of the bilateral agenda, and will also take part in a bilateral business interaction session.

India is one of Brazil's main trading partners in Asia, in addition to being the only co-founder and member of all global extra-regional groups Brazil has joined (BRICS, IBSA, G4, financial and trade-related G-20s, and BASIC). The visit takes place in the context of the celebration of the tenth anniversary of the Brazil-India Strategic Partnership, signed in 2006.

Brazil is the major trading partner of India in Latin America. In 2015, bilateral trade totaled US$ 7.9 billion, after reaching a record high of US$ 11.42 billion in 2014.
