The President of the Republic, Michel Temer, will make an official visit to Asuncion on October 3, when he will hold a work meeting with the President of the Republic of Paraguay, Horacio Cartes.
One of the main focus of the visit will be the assessment of border development in all its dimensions, such as infrastructure, trade and security.
The Presidents will also review issues of the bilateral and multilateral agendas, particularly Mercosur's economic and commercial strengthening and the external negotiations of the bloc.
Paraguay is one of Brazil's main political and commercial partners. Bilateral relations are strengthened by the presence of an important Brazilian community in that country. The binational company Itaipu, the largest hydroelectric plant in the world in power generation, is a concrete symbol of the partnership between the two countries.
Brazil is the main destination of Paraguayan exports and the main supplier of products to Paraguay. In 2015, bilateral exchange reached US$3.3 billion. In the first eight months of 2016, bilateral exchange reached US$2.1 billion.
