On October 5 and 6, Brazil was re-elected member of the Council of Administration (CA) and of the Postal Operations Council (POC) of the Universal Postal Union (UPU), a specialized agency of the United Nations for the development and universalization of postal services. The new mandate in each Council is for four years (2017-2020).
Brazil received significant vote in the elections to both Councils, with 125 votes to the CA and 121 votes to the POC, of a universe of 154 possible votes.
The results of the election reflect the international recognition of Brazil's contribution to the work of the UPU, to which the country is a member since 1877.
Brazil thanks the UPU member countries for the strong support received and extends its greetings to the other elected members.
