The Brazilian Government is closely following the events resulting from the passage of hurricane Matthew, which hit Central America and the Caribbean, especially Cuba and Haiti, in the last few days, and is now heading towards North America.

Brazil sympathizes with the families of the victims and expresses its most sincere condolences to the peoples and Governments of Cuba and Haiti.

To this moment, there is no record of Brazilian citizens among the victims. In case of emergency, the Emergency page of the Consular Portal of Itamaraty should be consulted for contact information of the Brazilian Embassies and Consulates. The Center for Assistance to Brazilians of the Consular Assistance Division of The Ministry of Foreign Affairs can be reached through the phone numbers +55 61 2030-8804, from 8am to 8pm (GMT Brasilia), through the email address, and through the emergency number +55 61 98197 2284 from 8pm to 8am.
