The Brazilian Government is pleased to inform that the Government of the Republic of Paraguay has granted its agrément to the appointment of Carlos Alberto Simas Magalhães as Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of Brazil in that country. According to the Brazilian Constitution, the appointment must still be confirmed by the Federal Senate.
Since January 2015, Ambassador Carlos Alberto Simas Magalhães has been Undersecretary General for the Brazilian Communities, Consular and Legal Themes. He has served at the Embassies of Brazil in Washington, La Paz and Paris, at the Mission to the Organization of American States (OAS), and at the Permanent Delegation of Brazil in Geneva.
He was Ambassador of Brazil in Rabat (2003-2008) and in Warsaw (2008-2012), and Consul-General in Montevideo (2012-2014). In Brazil, he occupied the position of Chief of Staff of the Secretary-General of Foreign Affairs.
