The Brazilian Government is pleased to inform that the Government of the Italian Republic has granted its agrément to the appointment of Antonio de Aguiar Patriota as Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of Brazil in that country.
Brazil and Italy established diplomatic relations in 1861.
Ambassador Antonio Patriota was Minister of Foreign Affairs, Permanent Representative of Brazil to the United Nations and Ambassador of Brazil in Washington. He also served at the Permanent Mission of Brazil in Geneva and at the Embassies in Caracas and Beijing.
According to the Brazilian Constitution, the appointment must still be confirmed by the Federal Senate.
