Minister Antonio de Aguiar Patriota will visit Moscow, on September 4, for political consultations with the Minister of Foreign Affairs of Russia, Sergey Lavrov. The two Foreign Ministers will address bilateral and multilateral affairs, as well as the United Nations Security Council agenda.
The two countries hold regular high level meetings. In the first months of her administration, President Dilma Rousseff met with President Dmitri Medvedev, on the sidelines of the 3rd BRICS Summit, in April, in China. Vice-President Temer met with Prime Minister Vladimir Putin during the fifth meeting of the Brazil-Russia High Level Cooperation Commission, in May, in Moscow.
Russia ranks 16th among Brazil’s main trading partners, with US$ 6.06 billion in exchanges in 2010 (a 42% growth with regard to 2009). Among areas with great potential for future partnerships are sectors such as energy, space and education. Brazil wishes to increase academic exchanges with Russia.
