We have followed with concern the events in Venezuela: political radicalization, worsening of the economic crisis and continuous deterioration of the humanitarian situation and human rights, which includes arbitrary arrests. We are concerned about the suffering of the Venezuelan people caused by food shortages, hyperinflation and the collapse of medicine supply.
We want to ensure that the Brazilian government supports constructive initiatives with a view to foster understanding between the current Venezuelan government and the opposition.
As a friendly, neighboring and supportive country of the Venezuelan nation, Brazil is ready to contribute to the pursuit of this understanding and to work in order to address the most critical needs of the population in the neighboring country. We are willing to donate basic medicines produced by our state-run laboratories, delivering them to international humanitarian organizations which are able to ensure their distribution.
