The Ministry of Foreign Affairs emphatically rejects the statements made by the governments of Venezuela, Cuba, Bolivia, Ecuador and Nicaragua, and those by the Bolivarian Alliance for the Peoples of Our America/ Peoples’ Trade Treaty (ALBA/TCP), which allow themselves to express opinions and spread misinformation about the domestic political process in Brazil. This process takes place within a framework of absolute respect to the democratic institutions and to Brazil’s Federal Constitution.
As any neutral observer may notice, the impeachment procedure is a Constitutional provision; the rite established in the Constitution and in infra-constitutional laws was followed rigorously, as determined and approved by Brazil's Supreme Court; and the Vice-President took office as President by determination of the Federal Constitution, under the conditions laid down by that Charter.
