Minister of Foreign Affairs Ambassador Mauro Vieira will take part in the ministerial meeting and in he 4th Summit of the South America-Arab Countries (ASPA), between November 9-11, in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia.
The event marks the 10th anniversary of the mechanism and has the objective of enhancing dialogue and cooperation between the South American countries and the League of Arab States.
The action plan which will be ratified during the meeting covers cooperation in energy, health, education and culture. Themes of the international political agenda, including the Syrian crisis and the situation in Palestine, will also be addressed.
On November 8 and 9, the 4th ASPA Business Forum will be held. The event will address initiatives aimed at promoting trade and investment flows. In addition, it will discuss the increase of Arab investments in South America, a theme of particular interest to Brazil.
Trade between South America and the Arab countries increased by 183% in the last ten years, growing from USD 17.6 billion, in 2005, to USD 34.8 billion in 2014.
