Minister Antonio de Aguiar Patriota will hold a meeting with the Minister of Foreign Affairs, Cooperation and Communities of Cabo Verde, José Brito, on January 2, 2011. The Cape Verdean Minister represented President Pedro Pires at President Dilma Rousseff’s inaugural ceremony.
Cabo Verde is a traditional Brazilian partner in Africa and a member of the Community of Portuguese Language Countries. In the last decade, there were seven presidential visits between both countries.
Brazil and Cabo Verde maintain an important technical cooperation program. 13 projects are being executed in several areas, with Brazilian resources amounting to US$ 3.5 million. Regarding educational cooperation, Cabo Verde is one of the main beneficiaries of the Scholarship Program for First Degree University Students (PEC-G), with 39% of the selected candidates. The Brazil-Cabo Verde Cultural Center was inaugurated in Praia in 2008.
