The First Meeting of the Brazil-Oman Joint Commission will be held on February 4, at the Itamaraty Palace, in Brasilia. The meeting will be co-chaired by the Secretary General of Itamaraty, Ambassador Sérgio França Danese, and by the Omani Minister of Commerce and Industry, Mr. Ali bin Massoud Al-Sunaidy. On the occasion, bilateral themes will be addressed, such as investment promotion and cooperation in the areas of mining, agriculture, education and air services.
On February 3, Minister Al-Sunaidy will take part, accompanied by businessmen, in a bilateral Business Seminar in the city of São Paulo.
The Brazil-Oman Joint Commission mechanism was established in April 2013, on the occasion of the visit of the Vice President of the Republic, Michel Temer, to the Sultanate.
Bilateral trade, which registered US$ 60 million in 2006, reached USS 656 million in 2015, which corresponds to a growth of over 980%.
