The Brazilian Government welcomes the signing of the “Peace and Reconciliation Agreement” in Mali by the Coordination of Azawad Movements (CMA), which took place in Bamako on June 20. The agreement establishes a political solution aimed at guaranteeing Mali’s stability and territorial integrity. The CMA’s adhesion to the agreement signifies the incorporation of the principal Tuareg leaders who were involved in negotiating its terms.

Brazil congratulates the Government of Mali and the representatives from the population of the north of the country for the results they have obtained through the negotiations, and encourages the involved parties to comply fully with the terms of the agreement.

The Brazilian Government also congratulates the Algerian Government and the other international and regional actors who were engaged in the mediation efforts which made possible this auspicious outcome.
