The Minister of Foreign Affairs, Ambassador Mauro Vieira, will make his first official visit to Cuba, on November 25.
In Havana, Minister Mauro Vieira will hold work meetings with Foreign Minister Bruno Rodriguez Parilla and with the Minister of Foreign Trade and Investment, Rodrigo Malmierca Díaz.
The visit of a Brazilian foreign minister to Cuba takes place in a promising political context. The normalization of the diplomatic relations between the US and Cuba - which Brazil hopes will soon put an end in the current embargo – and the modernization of the Cuban economic model are developments that Brazil has been following closely.
In Havana, Minister Mauro Vieira will address topics including bilateral cooperation, the establishment of the Brazil-Cuba Chamber of Commerce, the expansion of the scope of the Economic Complementation Agreement n. 62 (ACE 62) between Mercosur and Cuba, in addition to regional and global themes.
The 30th anniversary of the re-establishment of Brazil-Cuba diplomatic relations will be celebrated in 2016.
