The Ministers and their representatives will address core issues of the ongoing negotiations under the United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change (UNFCCC) for the adoption of new international agreement on climate change at COP-21 (21st Conference of the Parties), in December this year in Paris.

The Ministers will held a press conference after the conclusion of the works, at 12:15pm on June 28, at the Permanent Mission of Brazil to the United Nations (747 Third Avenue, 9th floor, New York, phone + 212 372 1-2600). Arrival 15 minutes in advance is kindly requested. The interview will be held in English.

BASIC Ministers have held regular meetings since 2009 to share opinions and draw coordinated approach to negotiations.

The group was established in 2007 as an informal forum for discussion of negotiators under the UNFCCC, and has played an important role in advocating for a fair and effective international response to climate change.

Coordinated actions of BASIC have stimulated higher level of ambition in the fight against climate change and have contributed to prioritize international action in financial, technological and technical needs for mitigation and adaptation in developing countries.
