Brazil is pleased to learn that, today in Lausanne, Iran and the countries of the P5+1 group (Germany, China, the United States, France, the United Kingdom and Russia), with the assistance of the European Union, have established parameters for a wide-ranging and long-term agreement on the Iranian nuclear programme, to be concluded by 30 June.

The Brazilian Government has consistently reiterated that on this issue there is no alternative to a negotiated solution, and that the present negotiations constitute an opportunity which should be fully exploited so as to arrive at a lasting solution. Brazil salutes the willingness of the governments of Iran and the P5+1 countries, and the diplomacy of the European Union, in persevering with the efforts to reach an agreement which is satisfactory for all parties.
