The President of the Oriental Republic of Uruguay, Tabaré Vázquez, will make a State visit to Brazil on May 21, 2015, when he will be received by President Dilma Rousseff. This is the first bilateral visit of President Tabaré Vázquez since he took office in March 2015.

Brazil and Uruguay established, in July 2012, a new paradigm for bilateral relations, based on a deep and comprehensive integration aimed at providing concrete benefits to both countries. The decision was reflected in the creation of the high level group Brazil-Uruguay, which has propelled important bilateral projects in the areas of trade facilitation, transport infrastructure, productive integration, border cooperation and energy integration.
At the commercial level, Brazil is the main destination of Uruguayan exports and the second largest supplier of products to the country. In 2014, bilateral trade reached US$ 4.9 billion, surpassing the previous record of 2012.
