The Ministry of External Relations will hold a round table discussion on “Rio + 20: The New Challenges of Sustainable Development” on April 29, at 9 a.m., at Palácio Itamaraty, in Rio de Janeiro.

The event, to be co-chaired by the Minister of External Relations, Antonio de Aguiar Patriota, and by the Minister of Environment, Izabella Teixeira, is the first of a series of conversations with representatives from the Executive, the Legislative and the Judiciary and from various sectors of the society, aiming at building a Brazilian position for the United Nations Conference on Sustainable Development (“Rio+20”), to be hosted by Brazil, in Rio de Janeiro, between 28 May and 6 June 2012.

The Round Table will be attended by the Executive Director of the United Nations Development Program for the Environment, Achim Steiner, by Brazilian society representatives, as well as by international participants.

Palácio do Itamaraty is located on Avenida Marechal Floriano, 196, in downtown Rio de Janeiro.
