Republic of Kiribati
Kiribati is a sovereign State of Oceania. The country was a British colony until 1979, when it became independent. Kiribati is a member of the Commonwealth, the Pacific Islands Forum, the United Nations and several other international organizations.
Brazil established diplomatic relations with Kiribati on September 21, 2010, by means of a Joint Communiqué signed in New York. Brazil and Kiribati share common views in areas of mutual interest, such as climate change, a very sensitive theme to Kiribati. There is potential for cooperation in areas such as sports, health and education.
